Description

The Empire Wind project is an offshore wind farm located south of Long Island, developed by Norwegian energy company Equinor. It was previously hit by a stop-work order which was overturned, and it will use powerful turbines capable of generating a day and a half of energy for one home with a single blade rotation. The project is part of a larger expansion of offshore wind capacity in the US, expected to add around six gigawatts to the grid by 2027, enough to power approximately 2.5 million homes.
