Description | Empire Offshore Wind, a subsidiary of Equinor ASA, is developing the Empire Wind project, a commercial offshore wind farm off the coast of New York. The project aims to provide energy for 500,000 homes and supports local economies and job creation. Construction activities had been halted due to a stop work order issued on 16 April 2025 but have now been allowed to resume by the US government. The project is more than 30% complete and aims for commercial operation in 2027. |
