The project aims to improve access to high-quality vocational training for young people in three selected cities in the southern and central member states. This will contribute to reducing youth unemployment and to local economic development. To this end, integrated vocational training centers are gradually being expanded, rebuilt and equipped in Galkayo, Jowhar and Baidoa. The concept of the integrated vocational school is characterized on the one hand by practice-oriented teaching based on clear quality and examination criteria. On the other hand, the vocational schools offer various services in the field of further education and business support for the local economy. The project supports the vocational training centers in developing a wide range of services, thereby generating income and being able to support themselves in the long term with a sustainable financing mechanism. By anchoring themselves in the local communities and involving disadvantaged and vulnerable young people from different clans as well as internally displaced persons, the vocational schools are intended to act as peace-making meeting places and development poles for the local economy.
