Description

Description

The coordinator of ECHAV – Empower vulnerable Communities through HumAid Volunteers, IBO Italia, has been working for more than 60 years in the field of volunteering and international solidarity, thus the realisation of this first project within the European Voluntary Corps of Humanitarian Aid wants to be a further testimony of its commitment in the construction of peace and the strive for human rights. The consortium built up for this project includes the following European and non-European organisations: - IBO Italia as coordinator and support organisation; - Grenzenlos Austria, Visioneers Germany, Keric Slovakia and Amigos de Europa Spain as support organisations; - VIN Nepal, JHASi Jordan, ICYE Nigeria, CIVS Kenya, HIT Togo and IBO Tanzania local office of the coordinator, as hosting organisations, for the deployment of 67 European volunteers within a total period of 24 months. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in short, medium and long term activities, individually and in groups to bring their contribution in the above-mentioned countries. The project’s goal is to provide support for the development, empowerment and resilience of vulnerable local communities, as well as encouraging a culture of peace, through a holistic approach involving different forms of humanitarian aid. This will include educational intervention and protection for children and youth from disadvantaged situations, as well as trainings, awareness raising campaigns and events for the whole community and for specific target groups about key issues such as social justice, children’s rights, health, hygiene, sexual and reproductive health, sustainable farming, climate change, environmental conservation and disasters preparedness. Volunteers will also contribute with logistical and administrative support, as well as practical assistance through environmental conservation and reforestation activities in areas particularly affected by natural disasters and drought.
