Description
Description | "Every child needs support in discovering themselves and finding their place in the world. Literature can help with this. Our project ""Empowering Children through Literature - YOUR PLACE"" will show children how fictional worlds and characters in books strengthen self-worth, inspire self-acceptance, and open them up to others. We base our approach on comprehensive needs analysis from research centers in Poland and abroad. We will create a collection of six books, translated from different languages and reflecting diverse social, geographical, and economic contexts, which will bring cultural richness and help children build self-esteem and discover their own place. 1. Promoting translations of European literature and strengthening international circulation of European literary works by publishing/distributing translations from less-used languages like Estonian, Finnish, Czech, as well as from French and German into Polish. This will increase the diversity of European literature. 2. Promoting translators through a podcast series featuring translators discussing their work and the culture and literature they translate, with translators' names prominently displayed on book covers and bios on the back. 3. Promoting the therapeutic role of books through collaboration with libraries, book festival creators, and cultural institution representatives from the countries of translated books. This includes organizing conferences, workshop packages with bibliotherapy support, and providing Polish and English downloadable materials for librarians and teachers. 4. Reaching new audiences by organizing workshop series in libraries in disadvantaged areas and through materials available on our website. 5. Supporting the book sector through collaboration with libraries, Book Fairs, Foundations, and the Polish Book Chamber. 6. Supporting Ukraine – translating a Polish book into Ukrainian and providing free distribution to refugees in Poland and those affected in Ukraine. " |
