Communication is difficult – and difficult to learn in theory education. All German and Danish participants in the ATHENA network project agree. The challenges arising from demographic and social developments, such as the difficulty of attracting enough qualified trainees, rapidly changing demands in the profession, stress, burnout or career shifts of highly sought-after professionals, the discrepancy between theory and practice and an image problem for social and health professions, increase the challenge equally in both countries. On the German side, a legislative amendment is underway, the new law on nursing professions, which in reality means an adaptation to the Danish education system. It is a unique opportunity for German-Danish cooperation. Athena will make a significant contribution to improving the quality of social and health education. Together with all project partners, Athena will develop new cross-border solutions, structures and products such as hybrid and virtual learning concepts and communication teaching modules. Innovative didactic approaches will be developed, tested and implemented, especially taking into account digitalisation. At the same time, exchanges between students and teachers in educational institutions will be promoted and sustainably anchored. Internship visits, tandem work and cross-border partnerships are initiated and supported. The results of the project are achieved through continuous collaboration in workshops, working groups and joint project work involving our network partners, such as patient associations, practitioners, experts from educational institutions, as well as students and teachers. In this way, we will continue to work directly with the network project, which has created a euphoric atmosphere. ... The aim is to raise the quality level in the Interreg region and to make all those involved aware of the cross-border labour market. The following results shall be sought: Exchange across the borders of countries and professions through workshops, dialogue, hospitation and field trips Tansparens of the Danish and German needs, perspectives and experiences through analyses of what we now have, the needs and challenges of teaching Synthesis, development of prototypes and tests Institutionalisation of a self-driving network
