Description
Description | 1. Background and Rationale As a secondary school dedicated to fostering European citizenship, cultural awareness, and democratic participation, we recognise the need to equip students with knowledge about the European Union (EU), its values, and its diverse cultures. Given the growing importance of youth engagement in democratic processes and cross-cultural dialogue, our project aims to integrate EU studies into the secondary education curriculum, fostering a generation of informed and engaged citizens. 2. Project Objectives Promote Active European Citizenship: Educate students on their rights and responsibilities as EU citizens, encouraging democratic participation. Enhance Knowledge of EU Values: Instill principles such as human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, rule of law, and human rights. Foster Cultural Awareness and Diversity: Explore the cultural heritage of EU member states, promoting respect and inclusivity. Develop Critical Thinking and Engagement: Equip students with skills to analyse EU policies and their global impact. Encourage Cross-Border Collaboration: Facilitate exchanges and joint projects with students and educators from other EU countries. 3. Proposed Activities Curriculum Development: Integrate EU studies across a number of existing subjects such as History, Geography, French, Polities & Society and SPHE. Introduce EU studies as a new subject. Develop materials such as case studies, debates, and role-plays. Workshops and Interactive Learning: Organise workshops on EU institutions and policies. Host European Parliament simulations. Cultural Exchange Program: Partner with schools in other EU countries for exchanges and study visits. Guest Lectures and Expert Talks: Invite EU policymakers and activists to engage with students on current EU issues. Student-Led Projects and Community Engagement: Encourage students to create projects on EU-related topics. Promote civic initiatives such as volunteering and awareness campaigns. |
