Empowering Hard of Hearing Citizens

EHOHC is a project proposal focused on strengthening the capacity of European Federation of Hard Of Hearing national member organisations to influence inclusive recovery, public policies and programmes. The EHOHC will create mobilisation and activation of hard of hearing associations in EU. Our long term goal is to protect, promote and raise awareness on rights of persons with disabilities, specifically hard of hearing and deafened people through long term mentoring program, training and support program to strengthen the capacity of national member organisations and realise visibility and increased participation of hard of hearing citizens in all areas of European and national disability and citizens plans. Through our communication and engagement activities we will raise awareness of the European Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021-2030 among hard of hearing organisations and their members and promote the rights of persons with hearing loss in Europe. EHOHC will also have a crucial component of creating and to strengthening organisational capacity of the European Federation of Hard of Hearing People. Based on the above background and challenges highlighted, EFHOH is applying for this grant to support the implementation of the European Accessibility Act, European Strategy for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities 2021-2030 (ESRPD) with priority action on accessibility, EU Web Accessibility Directive, Principle 17 of the European Social Pillar on Inclusion of persons with disabilities and article 9 of the UNCRPD on accessibility. We will realise those aims though communication and engagement activities such as webinars, leadership training and supporting national organisations with published guidance, good practice and by supporting the EU Semester Process.The project, if funded, will allow EFHOH to build much needed institutional and organisational capacity at both the EU and the national levels and in turn, increased visibility.
