Description
Description | While anti-Semitism is on the rise again, there are few strong public Jewish voices and effective media strategies to raise awareness for and to combat anti-Semitism, especially on a local community level. We want to tackle this issue by empowering Jews and victims of anti-Semitic hate speech to speak out for themselves locally. We will create a network that both empowers Jews and provides them with the neccessary media skills and knowledge about anti-Semitism to speak out in public and shape the public discourse around this issue from a previously unheard perspective. Our target groups are social multipliers: local and regional actors who have been or might be affected by anti-Semitism, e.g. community leaders, representatives of civil organisations, bloggers, journalists, social activists. The participants will hail from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. We will form two main working groups consisting of ca. 20 attendants, one for adults and one for youths. Each group will attend 4 weekend training seminars, in which participants will acquire necessary media skills and develop strategies to combat anti-Semitism, especially anti-Semitic online hate speech. Each seminar will be followed by webinars, in which participants can present and discuss cases where they have utilised their previously acquired knowledge. 2 public events on relevant issues in the field of anti-Semitism, targeting a broader audience of up to 300 people. Furthermore we will provide on demand support for participants who are for example engaged in local media campaigns or public debates. At the end of our project, an online and printed compendium on how to effectively combat anti-Semitism and anti-Semitic hate speech will be produced, based on best practice examples of our participants and the content of our seminars. The network of participants will be able to indepently provide mutual support, exceeding the project's duration. |
