Peripartum maternal infections are one of the global health priorities that has special relevance in SSA, due to the representativeness of the incidence, morbidity and mortality of women and newborns. Intervening in the training process of future nurses and, at the same time, strengthening the connection between academia and current professionals, this project aims to improve the quality of higher education in SSA, reinforcing its relevance to the job market and society, increasing the level of competencies, skills and potential of nursing students and educators. An innovative nursing curriculum focused on the prevention and control of peripartum maternal infections, innovating in the selection and approach of content, learning objectives, improving teaching/learning methods and pedagogical instruments in SSA HEIs, will allow the development of skills of nursing, encouraging the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit of nursing students in these areas of intervention. The general objective of this transnational cooperation project (MPIPrevEdu) is to allow HEIs in SSA to educate nursing students on sustainable and innovative practices for controlling maternal infections in the peripartum period, whether these occur in health services or in a community context. The MPIPrevEdu project is committed to promote women's reproductive rights, by improving the quality of nursing curricula in the context of peripartum maternal infections prevention and control, the MPIPrevEdu project will contribute to safer motherhood for women in SSA.
