Description

Description

The European Universities Continuing Education Network (EUCEN) is the largest European association of higher education institutions promoting lifelong learning. It raises awareness of the EU agenda in education and training by facilitating dialogue and cooperation between universities, NGOs, policy makers, and decision-makers. Since its establishment in 1991, EUCEN has actively engaged with European institutions, enabling the exchange of best practices, experiences, and expertise. It disseminates key information on pressing issues within the higher education sector, brings together diverse actors in education, and advocates for a more democratic, civic, and social Europe. EUCEN’s efforts foster cooperation across various educational sectors and stakeholders, specifically in the context of higher education, contributing directly to the EU's policy objectives in this field. EUCEN brings together over 133 European universities, plus 14 national networks and 13 organisations representing or connected to LLL at higher education level. EUCEN’s members reach millions of beneficiaries (i.e. learners, trainers and employers) and engage a significant number of stakeholders. Through its activities in five key areas—Development and Management of ULLL through Member Engagement, Capacity Building and Peer Learning through National Networks, Advocacy and Policy Impact, Awareness and Promotion and Organisational Development and Internal Resilience—EUCEN ensures its alignment with EU policy objectives, focusing on enhancing the quality, inclusiveness, and accessibility of higher education. The impact of EUCEN’s work - particularly its communication and dissemination activities - is regularly evaluated through membership surveys, media engagements, partnerships, and feedback sessions involving diverse target groups. These groups include decision-makers, policy influencers at all levels, ENGOs, think tanks, social partners, media, and citizens.
