Description

Description

Empresa de Distribucion Electrica de Chancay or Ede-chancay is one of the five companies created when Peruvian Electrolima was corporatized for the privatization program. The four other companies are Empresa de Distribucion Electrica de Lima Sur (Luz del Sur), Empresa de Distribucion Electrica de Lima Norte (Edelnor), Empresa de Generacion Electrica de Lima (Edegel), and Empresa de Distribucion Electrica de Canete SA (Edecanete). Ede-chancay distributes electricity to two small towns north of Lima, Chancay and Huacho. The company was partially privatized in December 1995, when a 60% stake was sold for $10.3 million to Inversiones Distrilima, a consortium of Endesa (Spain), Enersis (Chile), Chilectra (Chile), Inversiones Centenario (Peru), Cosapi (Peru), BCP Trading, El Pacifico-Peruano Suiza SA (Peru). In a second transaction, the government sold a 0.72% stake to Edechancay's workers for $0.12 million. Edelnor was subsequently merged with Edechancay in 1996. None None
