Description | Empresa de Distribucion Electrica de Canete SA or Edecanete is one of the five companies created when Peruvian Electrolima was corporatized for the privatization program. The other companies are Empresa de Distribucion Electrica de Lima Sur (Luz del Sur), Empresa de Distribucion Electrica de Lima Norte (Edelnor), Empresa de Generacion Electrica de Lima (Edegel), and Empresa de Distribucion Electrica de Chancay (Ede-chancay). Edecanete distributes electricity to 20,000 customers in a valley about 87 miles south of Lima. The company annual sales were about 40,000 MWh in 1996. The company was privatized in June 1996, when the government sold 100% of its equity for $8.6 million to Luz del Sur, the distribution company serving Southern Lima. None None |
