The other company is Comercializadora y Distribuidora de Energia SA which assumed all distribution assets of EEB. Empresa Generadora de Energia assumed its generating facilities totalling 2180-MW of installed capacity in 1995. This capacity was divided in nine power plants: 50-MW Canoas, 70-MW Salto II, 76-MW Laguneta, 300-MW Colegio, 310.5-MW Cadena Mesitas Guaca, 270-MW Paraiso, 1,000-MW Guavio, 37.5 MW Termozipa I, and 66-MW Termozipa II. Empresa Generadora de Energia was partially privatized in September 1997 when the government sold a 48.5% equity stake for $951.2 million to a consortium called Capital Energia SA, comprising Spanish Endesa and Chilean Endesa.
