Encourage Solar Fund

The Encourage Solar Fund is a fund initiated by KfW that invests equity in private financial institutions (non-banking financial institutions = NBFIs) and uses them to develop special loan products for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) that specifically enable the financing of solar roof systems. At the same time, cooperations with solar project developers are to be entered into in order to provide financing solutions and technical know-how for the development of the solar roof system market in India. In addition, the fund manager is provided with an accompanying measure that serves to build up know-how among the portfolio companies and also the end customers (MSMEs), to set quality standards for solar roof systems and to network the various players. The project makes a contribution to the implementation of the German-Indian solar partnership, in particular its first pillar, the promotion of photovoltaic (PV) roof systems.
