Description

Description

"How do I deal with death and loss? What happens to our environment? What stereotypical gender roles do we grow up with? These are all big and weighty questions for which there are countless big and weighty books. But there are also small and light books that deal with these issues, picture books, for example, that approach these topics in a refreshing and often humorous way. The five picture books in the project ""Encouraging resilience and creativity in young children with award-winning picture books from all over Europe"" are certainly among them. With these books, Kraus Verlag aims to translate picture books from lesser-spoken European languages into German and distribute them, giving both children and parents food for thought and allowing them to talk about topics that touch on essential issues. By telling stories about topics such as death, strokes of fate and environmental pollution in a child-friendly way, young adolescents can be helped to process their emotions and develop a deeper understanding of these complex issues. By identifying with the characters and overcoming their challenges, children can develop resilience and the ability to adapt to difficult situations. Children are encouraged to use their own creativity and imagination to explore alternatives to create a better world. The authors and illustrators of the selected picture books (they come from Norway, the Czech Republic, Poland and Portugal) have already been honoured with numerous national and international awards - most of them with the internationally renowned White Raven. Within the project, great importance is attached to the ecological compatibility of all activities, each book will be promoted in a variety of extensive ways within the German-speaking market and numerous readings are planned with both the authors and the translators of the works. A further aim of this project is to get more male adults interested in picture books - an extensive PR campaign is planned here."
