Description
Description | Enercon Windfarms (Jaisalmer) Pvt. Limited developed a 24 MW wind energy based independent power project in Jaisalmer, in the Indian state of Rajasthan. The “green energy” generated from the plant was supplied to Rajasthan Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (transmission utility) and the three distribution companies in Rajasthan. The plant was set up in response to Government of Rajasthan’s commitment (February, 2000 policy) to achieve an installed capacity of 100 MW exclusively from wind by 2004. Enercon Windfarms (Jaisalmer) Pvt. Limited signed a 20 year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Rajasthan Vidyut Prasaran Nigam. The PPA was co-signed by the three distribution companies that served Rajasthan: Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited, Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited, and Jodhpur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited. Enercon Windfarms (Jaisalmer) Pvt. Limited, a 100 percent owned subsidiary of Enercon India Limited (EIL), was established to implement the wind energy project in Jaisalmer. EIL was a joint venture between Germany’s Enercon GmbH (56 percent) and India’s Mehra Group (44 percent). The US$ 26.48 million power project achieved financial closure in March 2004. Power Finance Corporation Limited sanctioned a loan of US$ 21.72 million for the project. The project was commissioned in June 2004. |
