Energy efficiency in public buildings

The FC measure Energy Efficiency Program in Public Buildings - Phase II is intended to promote the energy-efficient renovation of public buildings in Montenegro. The outdated existing public buildings, which are in need of renovation due to a lack of maintenance, have a high energy-saving potential. Energy-saving measures can be carried out in particular on the building envelope and in the building technology, which must be accompanied by general renovation work to ensure sustainability. This second program phase follows on from the ongoing energy efficiency program in public buildings. The aim of the FC measure is to make a contribution to improving energy efficiency, rehabilitating the building structure and increasing user satisfaction in selected existing public buildings (outcome). This is intended to improve learning conditions in schools and educational infrastructure buildings, working conditions in administrative buildings and general living conditions in social institutions (such as homes for the elderly and disabled or orphanages). Saving energy helps to avoid greenhouse gas emissions. The overarching development policy objective is to make a contribution to global climate protection and to the sustainable economic development of Montenegro (impact). The total cost of the FC measure and the accompanying measure is estimated at around EUR 23 million.
