Description
Description | The Energy Efficiency in the Water Sector II project is essentially a continuation of the Energy Efficiency in the Water Sector project (BMZ No. 2010 66 398). As part of the nationwide program, further selected energy efficiency measures (especially energy-efficient rehabilitation of pumping stations and restructuring of water distribution networks) are to be implemented. If necessary, measures from the first phase of the program where the investment requirement exceeds the available funds are to be financed as part of the second phase. The measures are intended to achieve cost savings for Jordanian water companies and to improve the energy balance as a contribution to climate protection. This is intended to contribute to the sustainable and efficient management of Jordan's scarce water resources. The entire population of Jordan benefits indirectly from the project, as the efficiency measures strengthen the nationwide water supply companies and the Water Authority of Jordan and the operation of the water supply infrastructure needs to be subsidized to a lesser extent. |
