The FC thematic project is intended to support the Indian government in implementing its plans to improve energy efficiency. Two individual measures are financed under the FC thematic project, which were selected with a view to making the greatest possible contribution to the module objectives as well as the level of preparation and feasibility. These are - in component I, the financing of the energy-efficient renovation of an agricultural irrigation system in the Indian state of Maharashtra. This includes the replacement of large pumps with energy-optimized high-efficiency pumps, the installation of a photovoltaic system and other individual energy efficiency measures in the area of electrical and hydraulic piping systems. - in component II, the financing of energy efficiency measures via a financial intermediary in India. The direct target group of this second component of the thematic project are micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, which are supported in financing climate-friendly and energy-efficient machinery and equipment, as well as the partner bank, which can refinance the corresponding loans to MSMEs. The indirect target group of the project is the general public, which benefits from an improved electricity supply as well as the positive health, environmental and climate effects due to the higher energy efficiency. The thematic projects make a direct contribution to the development cooperation program goal of a broad-based, technically and economically efficient as well as socially and ecologically sustainable energy supply in India by reducing CO2 emissions through investments in and the use of demand-side energy efficiency measures, partly in combination with increasing the electricity generation capacity of renewable energies.
