Energy-efficient housing - Trust Participation Namibia (IHS SSA)

The International Housing Solutions (IHS) Fund II SSA invests in energy-efficient and affordable housing in Namibia. Since 2016, KfW has been participating with trust funds from the BMZ to promote the construction of housing projects that are as efficient and therefore cost-effective as possible. The aim is to reduce electricity and resource consumption in housing construction for middle and low-income households and to improve their housing situation in Namibia. The energy-efficient construction method should also have an impact on other projects in Namibia and strengthen existing energy efficiency standards in the Namibian market. The project is part of the German-Namibian cooperation for sustainable economic development. After completion, the construction projects will be sold either to the residents themselves or to other investors and the funds spent will be returned to the federal budget.
