As part of the project, the use of heavy oil in the district heating network was stopped by enabling the introduction of waste heat into Pristina's municipal district heating network and numerous inefficient individual furnaces and electric heaters were replaced. At the same time, network rehabilitation and expansion measures were carried out. This ensured a continuous supply of heat to the connected households, companies and institutions for the first time. In addition to BMZ budget funds, the financing included a KfW loan and grants from the EU, Sweden and Luxembourg as well as a contribution from the sponsor.
