EnergyConnect is Australia's largest transmission project involving more than 700 km of new transmission lines stretching from the South Australian border to Wagga Wagga and into Victoria. The project includes construction of over 1,500 steel towers, more than 10,000 km of cabling, and the development of major substations including one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere at Buronga, an expansion of the Wagga Wagga substation, and a new substation at Dinawan near Bundure, NSW. The project supports the renewable energy transition by linking NSW with renewable energy from South Australia and Victoria, increasing capacity for local renewable generation, and strengthening the national grid.
