Engaging Men and Boys against Gender-based Violence and Discrimination through Technology-based Trainings

The project will design and implement dedicated trainings for raising awareness about the phenomenon of Gender-based violence. The trainings will be designed, after a phase of needs’ assessment, on the basis of an original methodology, relying on the academic literature on how the exposure to models of masculinity compatible with gender equality can positively change the attitudes and behaviours of men and boys. In order to assess the needs and perceptions of the target population, the project will carry out interviews and focus groups with (male and female) students enrolled in high schools, in University colleges and with young athletes affiliated to sports associations. The trainings will be designed by a multidisciplinary committee of scholars and experts and it will aim at providing knowledge and skills for teachers, administrative personnel and trainers/coaches. The didactic methodology will be interactive and technology-assisted, thanks to the development of didactic tools using immersive reality technology and simulations aimed at highlighting the physical, emotional and social aspects related to the direct and indirect experience of gender-based violence.
