Engevox Telecomunicacoes Ltda provides local and long-distance telephone services in two cities in the state of Bahia and in two cities of the state of Minas Gerais. Engevox received licenses to operate in the regions where one of the mirror companies are not delivering services. Engevox is one of the so-called "espelhinhos" (small-mirrors). Engevox was initially authorized to deliver local services in two cities in the state of Bahia (Tres Rios and Teixeira de Freitas). In 2001, it was also authorized to deliver local services in the city of Prado, also in the state of Bahia. In 2002, it was granted permission to start long-distance services in the cities where it had been operational. In 2003, it returned to ANATEL, the regulatory agency, the authorization to operate in Tres Rios. In the same year, it was granted permission to deliver local and long-distance services in part of the state of Rio de Janeiro, in the capital of the state of Minas Gerais, and in part of the state of Bahia. In July 2003, Engevox started operating in two cities in the state of Bahia (Prado and Teixeira de Freitas). In addition, in January 2004, it began operations in two cities in the state of Minas Gerais (Belo Horizonte and Contagem).
