The European Non-Governmental Sports Organisation (ENGSO) is a not-for-profit organisation that acts as the umbrella organisation for 33 National Olympic and Paralympic Committees and National Sports Confederations responsible for grassroots sports, and counts 6 associate member organisations operating in the field of sport. ENGSO represents 39 organisations in 33 European countries. ENGSO aims to better and more systematically integrate young people in the decision-making processes, strategic EU consultation, and in the development of all positions and documents published by the organisation, as well as to expand the opportunities for young people of the sport and youth sectors to connect and take initiatives at European grassroots level (events, projects, strategic meetings). With a strong cooperation between its different committees, the ENGSO Youth Committee, the Equality Within Sport Committee and the EU Advisory Committee, as well as with its thematic youth working groups, ENGSO will strengthen mechanisms to empower the youth within its structure, strategy and activities, further develop structural youth participation across ENGSO member organisations, and advocate for structural youth participation mechanisms in sports and other European stakeholders (Council of Europe, European Union, ENGSO partner organisations, etc.). ENGSO’s work aligns with the EU Youth Strategy 2019-2027 and its respective European Youth Goals, but also with the Sustainable Development Goals.
