Description

The RiTE (Refugee Inclusive Technical Education) project is a comprehensive initiative aimed at enhancing the capacity of vocational training institutions in refugee and host communities in Uganda, specifically focusing on Kampala, Arua, and Adjumani districts. The project addresses the urgent need to provide inclusive Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) opportunities to refugees, who face significant challenges in accessing quality education and skills training. By collaborating with local stakeholders and leveraging international partnerships, the project seeks to achieve several outcomes, including enhancing TVET institutions' capacity, increasing access to inclusive TVET programs, improving the employability of refugees, and establishing partnerships for job placement. Key project activities include conducting skills gap assessments, training TVET instructors, developing inclusive curricula, utilizing existing facilities, and providing support services such as language training and job placement assistance. The project aims to create an impactful, meaningful, and replicable VET program by building a strong international consortium, conducting thorough needs analysis, delivering tailored capacity building, and co-creating VET programs through testing, assessment, and improvement cycles. The RiTE project's transparent and collaborative approach fosters a community of practice for knowledge-sharing and innovation, ensuring its relevance and sustainability in diverse contexts.
