Enhancement of Immigration Liaison Officers’ activities in Vietnam/ EURLO Vietnam

The general objective of the project is to support capacity building of EU Immigration Liaison Officers operating in VNM by improving cooperation with and qualifications of VNM Immigration Department. To this end ILO has, in cooperation with VNM ID, identified areas where support to VNM would be most effective and beneficial to activities performed by ILOs and VNM ID. Output: During 2 years, ILO will be supported in providing to VNM migration service of: - 2 English language courses for ca. 20 officers in VNM and 2 English for Specific Purposes (ESP) courses for ca. 20 officers in PL; - support in the area of creation, maintenance and further development of an IT system dedicated to the management of immigration services, including safeguarding of identity documents, identification of falsified documents and fingerprinting in a course of 3 study visits and 3 training courses; - strengthening the competences of the ID personnel responsible for aviation safety and removals (escorting) by the air. Outcome: After the project completion ILOs will benefit from improved cooperation with VNM ID as well as from newly established contacts. These will create an environment facilitating higher ILOs’ performance in the area of effective identification of VNM citizens and their return. VNM ID will improve language, organisational, training capacity and professional skills thanks to training, visits. Impact: The established and improved cooperation channels as well as newly acquired skills will intensify efficiency of implementation of ILOs tasks by contributing to improved and faster identification and transfer of VNM citizens illegally staying on the territory of the EU MS, thus increasing the rate of returns to VNM.
