Description

Description

Project will include expanding existing highway with additional lanes of priority road linkages, including twinning sections (i.e., expanding from 2 or 3 to 4 lanes), to support reliability and security of access between rural communities, strengthen year round transportation connections, improve transportation safety and address climate resiliency and adaptation. Priority sections of Route 1 include segments between: 1) Whitbourne and Little Harbour East/Southern Harbour; and 2) Bishop’s Falls to Grand Falls-Windsor. Upgrades will include clearing areas within exiting right of way, constructing new highway lanes adjacent to the existing highway, installing new and higher-capacity culverts, interchanges, and rehabilitation/routing adjustments.
