Description | The main objective: This project seeks to improve the access and quality of higher education in Uganda by transforming and strengthening the Open Distance Learning (ODeL) ecosystem. The key objectives include: (1) developing a National Quality Assurance Framework for ODeL programs, (2) strengthening HEIs' capacity in ODeL curriculum development, teaching, and learning, (3) improving ICT infrastructure and technological resources, and (4) fostering collaboration between Ugandan and European HEIs. Activities: The project involves: 1.Inception, management, and coordination 2.Developing a national quality assurance framework for ODeL 3.Enhancing internet capacity and LANs in HEIs 4.Formulating institutional ODeL policies 5.Developing curricula for selected programs 6.Communication, dissemination, mobility, and capacity building Beneficiaries & Stakeholders: The project involves four universities;- Kabale University and Mountains of the Moon University from Uganda, University of Lisbon, and Maastricht University from Europe in collaboration with two key Ugandan organisations the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) and RENU. 1.NCHE leads national ODeL quality standards, accreditation, and stakeholder engagement. 2.RENU provides ICT expertise in infrastructure, online learning, and connectivity. 3.European universities contribute to curriculum development, instructional design, training, and best practices exchange. 4.Ugandan HEIs establish institutional ODeL policies and curricula. Key Outputs: 1.A National Quality Assurance Standard for ODeL 2.Enhanced ICT infrastructure in HEIs 3.Developed ODeL curriculum programs 4.Increased digital skills for staff and students Impact: Short-term: Improved access, diversity, inclusivity, collaboration, digital skills, and adoption of innovative learning technologies. Long-term: Increased enrolment, education diversity, improved digital integration, strengthened ODeL infrastructure, and enhanced internet connectivity. |
