Enhancing all citizens participation in rethinking the city as an inclusive, sustainable and beautiful place through art and culture

RETHINK involves seven Municipalities in seven European countries with a North-South and West-East axis. The ambition of the project is to co-create inclusive, creative and beautiful meeting spaces in the partner cities. The spaces should promote EU-values such as equality, diversity and active citizenship, and should especially focus on the inclusion of vulnerable groups and young people. In co-creating the spaces, partners will focus on the New Bauhaus Initiative. The general objective of the project is to enhance all citizens’ participation in rethinking the city as an inclusive, sustainable and beautiful place through art and culture. From this, four specific objectives derive: 1.To define and improve a set of strategies for active participation, with the purpose to reimagine city living spaces on the principles of the NEB 2.To engage all citizens at a local level in creating a feeling of community, particularly involving young adults and vulnerable people in the community 3.To increase safety in the cities involved, through the ideation of co-created art public spaces and strengthening the democratic resilience and freedom of speech 4.Networking among public authorities, local associations, and stakeholders at local and European level From the methodology perspective, the RETHINK project foresees the continuous interaction of two components: the transnational and local levels’ exchanges and the participatory methodology through which all citizens will participate in the activities. Indeed, the participatory methodology directly engages the project target groups in the creative process, let them become active participants in the events and not only observers. These elements will have their effect on the target groups and on the level of results achievements.
