Description
Description | The project will develop the first transnational SNaP, including the concept note and the full proposal, leveraging the political endorsement of the Carpathian Biodiversity Framework (CBF), to achieve concrete and measurable improvements in nature and biodiversity conservation across the Carpathian mountain region shared by seven countries (five EU Member States: Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, and Slovakia, and two EU Candidate Countries: Ukraine and Serbia), focusing on aspects particularly relevant for transnational and transboundary approach. By harmonizing biodiversity conservation efforts, the project seeks to align with the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 and the Carpathian Biodiversity Framework adopted by the Carpathian Convention in October 2023. Supported by the Carpathian countries and relevant national authorities, the project addresses the gaps in border regions with different national legal frameworks, emphasizing capacity building, knowledge exchange, and impactful conservation measures. In collaboration with Carpathian Convention Secretariat, the SNaP will leverage existing governance structures to integrate nature and biodiversity into other sectoral policies. The project’s outcomes will support the EU’s broader environmental goals, focusing on transboundary cooperation as a critical element. |
