Description
Description | The Seoul National University (SNU) EU Centre, Korea’s first Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence, aims to enhance EU-Korea collaboration on climate governance through interdisciplinary education, policy research, and stakeholder engagement. This project aligns with the European Green Deal’s objectives by fostering knowledge exchange, strengthening transnational partnerships, and promoting sustainability-focused education. The project will implement a comprehensive set of activities, including comparative research on EU-Korea climate policies, new graduate-level courses on energy transitions and environmental governance, hybrid lecture series, transnational mobility programs, and high-impact public engagement initiatives. The Centre will also establish the Asian Green Deal Hub, connecting EU research institutions across Asia to advance regional sustainability cooperation and host two conferences. The initiative will benefit a diverse group of participants, including 250+ students enrolled in EU-focused graduate programs, 90+ participants in mobility programs, and 300+ attendees at public events. Researchers, policymakers, and business leaders will also gain access to evidence-based policy recommendations, fostering stronger Korea-EU ties. Expected results include the creation of a regional hub for Green Deal studies, increased awareness of EU sustainability policies in Asia, and enhanced Korea-EU cooperation on climate action. Key outputs include three new graduate courses, three research publications, 20+ expert-led lectures, four transnational mobility programs, and two annual EU Day events. By integrating education, research, and policy dialogue, this project will position the SNU EU Centre as a leading institution for EU Asia climate governance studies, fostering long-term collaboration and capacity-building in sustainability and energy transitions. |
