Enhancing History and Citizenship Education in Europe

EuroClio is a network of professionals who believe that history and citizenship education should strengthen democracy, promote human rights, and commit to the rule of law. Through our work, we support the development of young people as competent and engaged citizens who are committed to protecting democratic values based on a critical understanding of our shared past and work towards a world without hate, racism, discrimination or violence in any of its forms. The EU Operating Grant will enable us to - Build the capacity and increase the active participation of civil society actors in the field of education and training, our member organisations in particular, in terms of cross-border sharing and transfer of learning based on informative and inspiring practices, especially in the use of competence based learning. - Develop an evidence base that public authorities and other education decision makers can use for the design, review, refinement, and use of their policies and reforms, especially those related to history and civic education, and promote its use. - Co-design and test the effectiveness of innovative, targeted and creative teaching strategies and learning activities in terms of motivation, relevance, and usability, in various educational settings and promote their use in practice. - Raise awareness and get commitment for European policy agendas in education and training European Union's common principles and values within our target group, and increase our reach. - Introduce global perspectives in history and citizenship education in Europe, through training, communication and cooperation. - Contribute to the digital transformation through digital storytelling, live recording (of events, testimonies and tutorials), and the development and promotion of use of online courses and digital tools.
