Enhancing inclusivity through Basketball

The project aims to promote accessibility and inclusiveness in basketball and sports in general. It has two main strands of intervention, the first focusing on promoting basketball practice among young players regardless of gender, ethnicity, culture, or physical and mental abilities, and the second aimed at promoting accessibility to sports and education, particularly in the context of the mini-basketball game for younger age groups. The project has four specific objectives that apply to both strands of intervention: • To promote access to sporting practice, especially for children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, guaranteeing their right to participate in sports and benefit from its motor and educational contexts. • To enhance the experiences and sharing of ideas and visions of sports technicians and operators, and sports clubs engaged in social work, so they can act as spokespersons for sporting and educational issues, interpreting the socio-relational dimension of sports. • To raise awareness among the sports world and all stakeholders revolving around sports associations on the role that sport can play as a tool for breaking down dividing walls of diversity and promoting inclusiveness in all its forms. • To promote sports education on fair play and spread good practices for creating a world and context where prejudice and diversity are overcome. Outputs: - A validated concept for international minibasketball tournaments; - Exchange events to be held in Albania, Italy, Croatia and France and Slovenia (involved as guests partners). - A roadmap to develop life skills through sport activities - A curriculum to empower basketball coaches and PE teachers
