Enhancing Public Awareness and Civic Engagement in the EU

EPACE-EU (Enhancing Public Awareness and Civic Engagement in the EU) is a project that aims to ‎increase citizens’ awareness and participation in deliberative democratic processes, like the ongoing ‎Conference on the Future of Europe (CoFE) and beyond. It is put forward by ELIAMEP (Hellenic ‎Foundation for European and Foreign Policy), which is an independent, non-governmental, non-profit ‎think tank, established in Athens, Greece in 1988. EPACE-EU will contribute to the organisation of ‎activities under the umbrella of ELIAMEP’s “Ariane Condellis European Programme”, which is a ‎recently established programme at ELIAMEP with the aim to enhance the foundation’s capacity to ‎provide thorough analysis on EU issues, implement information and dissemination activities, actively ‎participate in the dialogue on the Future of Europe, and contribute to raising awareness of the wider ‎public through participatory dialogue and citizens’ engagement.‎ EPACE-EU will contribute to EU policies and plans of action by means of six activities, comprising the ‎Emerging Leadership Academy, Simulation Exercises, Public Agoras, tailor-made Seminars for ‎Professionals, an Electronic Game on the EU, and Compilations of ELIAMEP’s Contributions to the ‎European Public Dialogue. Together these activities amount to 32 trainings and educational activities ‎over the next 4-year period, engaging directly more than 1100 citizens. Most of the activities will have a ‎strong transnational component, enabling the participation and close interactions of EU citizens from ‎various member-states as well as neighbouring countries. ELIAMEP’s well established networks and ‎dissemination channels ensure the very wide communication of the envisaged activities as well as ‎their very high direct and indirect impact.
