Description
Description | The Eni and SERI battery factory is a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) gigafactory located at Eni's existing industrial site in Brindisi, Puglia, Italy. The project involves a joint venture called Eni Storage Systems, co-owned by Eni Industrial Evolution and FIB (Fabbrica Italiana Batterie), the manufacturing subsidiary of SERI Industrial. The factory is designed with three main pillars: active battery materials production, battery assembly operations, and battery recycling. Construction started in mid-2026, about 20 months after the partnership announcement in October 2024. The facility aims to produce LFP batteries for stationary energy storage and electric mobility markets, with embedded recycling infrastructure to comply with EU Battery Regulation requirements effective from 2031. |
