The project aims to promote and foster the share of language and culture as an instrument to build a common European identity between citizen of Barzanò and Mezier ((e.g. cultural and working environmental opportunities for youth and adults of two towns (i.e. Barzanò and Mezier). The project is composed of 2 work packages (WP). Each WP is tailored for a specific audience with dedicated actions and deliverables for them. In more detail: WP 1 targets adults from 30 to 70. It consists of two main actions: 1) learning of a foreign language (i.e. French for 30 Italians and Italian for 20 Frenchs) and 2) an exchange visit of Barzanò citizens to Le Parc Naturel de la Brenne to foster the dialogue among adults of two different Member states on the EU priorities, strategies such as discovering the cultural opportunities, the importance of biodiversity protection linked to cultural identity and the preservation of the habitat for present and future generations. Benefiting from Meziers inclusion within a NATURA2000 site (FR2400524 GRANDE BRENNE. Habitat, fauna, flora, directive site), Barzano’ citizens can bridge their knowledge on the stories of Meziers in the areas of cultural opportunities linked to promotion of local ecosystem. The activity is expected to be implemented from month n. 2 to month n. 8. WP 2 targets children from 9 to 10- exchange programme. It consists of an exchange week programme for Barzano's primary school students (9-10 years) aimed at learning the French language and Mezieres culture/common heritage. The activity is expected to be implemented from month n. 2 to month n. 4. The ambition of the project is to use “the teaching and learning of a foreign language” as i) a means of bringing Italian and French culture closer from a very early stage (this is the rationale of the course for children at the end of the primary school to give to children the opportunity to discover the cultural diversity of another EU Member State and, at the same time, as ii) an opportunity for adults to create cooperation and cultural synergies and to make them aware of European values and cultural heritage representing the foundation for a common future and for future generation (e.g. protection of ecosystem/biodiversity). Learning a foreign language and an exchange visit in the “Le Parc Naturel de la Brenne” is regarded as a way to enlarge and encourage the exchange of best practices and the common historical, cultural background developed during 32 years of twinning projects between Barzanò city, Mezieres city and Mezieres-en Brenne Park.
