The project action intends to increase the capacity of VET providers in Kenya by supporting the training VET trainers and managers in VET management, governance, inclusion and quality assurance, to ensure that they are better equipped to engage with the business sector. The proposed international partnership will contribute to improving the quality of VET in Kenya by reinforcing the capacities of VET staff and teachers as well as by strengthening the link between VET providers and the labour market. This project will also build on the governmental Digital Literacy Programme (DLP) in Kenya. ICT integration in education in Kenya: Roll-out of the Digital Literacy Programme – Digital skills are a vital preparation for teachers to take full advantage of the DLP, rolled out be the government of Kenya. The programme emphasizes Kenya’s long-term vision of creating a knowledge-based economy. Teacher training is critical component of integrating ICT in education and the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology is mandated to develop a skilled and innovative man power in Kenya and works towards the integration of ICT at all levels of learning. Teachers also need to embrace change with the new paradigm shift in teaching and learning brought about by the demands of ICT tools The Project outcomes are: 1. To support teachers/trainers in VET schools – RESULT: Production of a Training the Trainers online course - the course to be adapted, validated, certified and accredited in EU Countries (100 registrations) 2. To support individuals with relevant skills training, including entrepreneurship – RESULT: Production of an online Training Programme (200 registrations) 3. To provide a training and support environment for VET institutions and young VET trainees – RESULT: an Internet based training, Networking and support environment where the interactive tools, Reports and training materials developed as part of the project will reside (2,500 views).
