Description | The Environmental Mitigation Program is part of the OC Go (Measure M) initiative. It aims to manage and preserve open space lands in Orange County, as well as fund habitat restoration projects to offset the environmental impacts of freeway projects. The program has acquired over 1,300 acres of land in Brea, Laguna Beach, Silverado Canyon, and Trabuco Canyon, collectively known as the Preserves. Additionally, it has funded 12 restoration projects throughout the county, restoring approximately 350 acres of open space land. The program ensures the protection of 13 sensitive species in their native habitat. The long-term management of the Preserves is supported by an endowment. |
