The French company EDF announced the development the Eoliatec del Pacifico wind power plant in Oaxaca, Mexico (160 MW in capacity). The Project obtained the Generation Permit from the CRE (Energy Regulatory Commission or Comision Reguladora de Energía) on March 2005, and 15-year Power Purchase Agreements with the consuming partners were already signed. The sponsor created the special purpose company Eoliatec del Pacifico SAPI de CV to manage the project. Investment was estimated at US$ 401.1 million. Financial closure was achieved in December 2013, when the sponsor was a awarded US$ 285.3 million loan. The remaining US$ 115.8 million investment was equity-financed. In December 2013, the Japanese company Mitsui acquired a 50% stake in the project. Operations commenced in February 2014. In ?, the sponsor applied for carbon credits.
