The project aims to upgrade energy and resource efficiency in 16 municipal buildings including schools, kindergartens and cultural facilities in the city of Děčín, located in the less developed Ústí nad Labem region of the Czech Republic. Key measures include replacement of lighting with LED technology and installation of a building management system (BMS), alongside other actions to reduce energy consumption, enhance infrastructure, and ensure long-term savings. The initiative supports the region’s green transition by improving environmental performance of public buildings, reducing emissions and decreasing reliance on coal-based energy. These upgrades are expected to result in an estimated annual reduction of CO2 emissions by 181.06 tonnes, making a significant contribution to climate goals. The energy savings measures also align with the priorities of the Czech Territorial Just Transition Plan, promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy investments to support a just transition toward a low-carbon economy. By providing modern and sustainable public infrastructure, the project will enhance the quality of life of approximately 46 000 residents. The project is financed through a CZK 37 933 500 (EUR 1 539 571) loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB), awarded via the National Development Bank of the Czech Republic – Národní rozvojová banka (NRB), a CZK 9 483 375 (EUR 384 893) EU grant corresponding to 25 % of the total loan amount, given that it is located in a less developed region, and an additional CZK 28 450 125 million (EUR 1 154 678 ) from the city of Děčín’s own municipal budget. The total cost of the implementation of the energy efficiency measures amounts to CZK 75 867 000 (EUR 3 079 143) including VAT.
