Description

Description

Purpose. This FOA issued by the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), National Institutes of Health (NIH), solicits Exploratory/Developmental Research Grant (R21) applications from institutions/organizations that propose to investigate the role of epigenetic processes at key points during normal and/or pathological embryonic, fetal, childhood, adolescent and reproductive development that are relevant to the NICHDs mission areas. Projects should focus on epigenetic processes or changes in epigenetic marks associated with, causing or resulting from attaining a developmental milestone. Comparisons of the epigenetic state between distinct developmental stages or comparisons between normal and perturbed development at a distinct stages that will elucidate potential epigenetic mechanisms underlying normal development are also encouraged. Mechanism of Support. This FOA will utilize the NIH Exploratory/Developmental (R21) grant mechanism. Funds Available and Anticipated Number of Awards. The NICHD intends to commit $1.2 million in total costs in FY2010 to fund up to six applications in response to this FOA.
