Episcopal Health Services opened a $55 million five-story ambulatory pavilion in Far Rockaway to expand specialty services such as oncology and behavioral health in a neighborhood with long-standing gaps in medical care. The 65,000 square foot center offers primary and specialty services including behavioral health, obstetrics and gynecology, endoscopy, and gastroenterology. It is located at 19-20 Brookhaven Ave., directly across from St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, the only full-service hospital on the Rockaway peninsula. The pavilion includes an $18 million cancer center that opened in February, marking the return of radiation oncology services to the peninsula after more than a decade.
