Sound Global is a leading water/wastewater equipment, infrastructure, EPC and operations services provider for municipal and industrial clients in China. The Company has secured a number of Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) concessions in China for municipal wastewater treatment facilities, and is looking to expand its business outside of China, including India, Vietnam and Saudi Arabia. IFC made a pre-IPO equity investment of US$10 million in August 2006 (Project No. 25046) to support the Company’s core subsidiary in China, Beijing Sound Environmental Engineering Co. (Beijing Sound), as well as to assist Sound Global’s initial public offering (“IPO”) on the Singapore Stock Exchange (“SGX”). In September 2010, the company completed dual listing in Hong Kong in order to attract wider range of investors. IFC proposes aggregate financing support to Sound Global for four BOT projects of up to $36 million through an A loan. Proceeds from the proposed IFC financing will be used to support BOT concessions in the following project companies: Yantai Bihai Water Ltd., Yantai, Shandong Province; Xian Weiqing Water Company Ltd., Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province; Hongze Zeqing Water Company Ltd., Hongze County, Jiangsu Province; and Hanzhong Hanyuan Water Company Ltd., Yang County, Shaanxi Province.
