The European Qualifications Framework (EQF) serves to improve the transparency, comparability and portability of people's qualifications in Europe. The EQF National Coordination Point in Finland supports the implementation of the EQF Recommendation at national level through the development and implementation of national qualification framework (FiNQF) used to compare all types and levels of qualifications and education in all sectors of education. It encourages the use of the EQF and the FiNQF by all stakeholders. The Finnish National Agency for Education is a government agency working under the Ministry of Education and Culture. The Finnish National Agency for Education is functioning as the EQF National Coordination Point since the appointment by the Ministry in 2008. The Ministry has issued a regulation in which certain tasks were assigned to the National Co-ordination Point. In March 2020, these tasks were reviewed and updated in the Redesignation of the National Coordination Point for the European Qualifications Framework.
