In Germany there is no specific legal provision on the collection of equality data, sensitive data is not systematically collected and available secondary data is poor in quality. The public-private partnership aims at empowering professionals to collect equality data in their organisations and advance the collection in Germany in general. The project establishes a free-of-charge Standard (DIN SPEC) for the process of collecting equality data as part of organisations’ (SMEs) reporting on and assessing of diversity and level of inclusion. It will also offer a semi-automated Digital Diagnostic Tool, based on a proven collection methodology, to allow for a cost-effective, user-friendly collection of equality data, according to data protection policies. 3.000 professionals in organisations responsible for HR, Diversity, Equality or Strategy will be informed on equality data, 250 professionals trained to collect equality data, a communication strategy with webinars, podcasts and publications will promote the topic and projects results among the larger business and academic community. One pilot collecting equality data will be established, reaching at least 5.000 employees. With the project professionals will improve their knowledge and get empowered to collect equality data in their own organisations. The Standard and diagnostic tool will lead to enhanced validity, availability, accessibility to and comparability of equality data, allow for evidence-based diversity and inclusion strategies of organisations and, therewith, for a better implementation of EU and national legislation promoting equality and non-discrimination. On long term the project will lead to more inclusive organisations and working places, better access to and career opportunities for groups at risk of discrimination in organisations, elaborated diversity reporting and allow Diversity Monitoring and therewith pressure for more advanced legislation for the collection of equality data in Germany.
