Equatorial Guinea - Basic Health Services Strengthening Project (Health - I)

The Basic Health Services Strengthening Project (Health - I) falls in line with the new health policy described in the PNDS, whose activities are in keeping with the Bank Group Health policy. The proposed measures should help to solve problems affecting patients at secondary and tertiary levels, to ease the congestion of patients from referral hospitals, where serious and critical cases are treated, and to strengthen the IHC (primary level) where less serious cases are treated while serious cases are referred to hospitals within a reasonable time. The expected outputs are: (i) construction of CSIs and operational facilities; (ii) training of project CSI health personnel; and (iii) rehabilitation of the Ministry's facilities assigned to the PUI. The project comprises two components. The Component I: Strengthening of Basic Health Services concerns: (i) Studies and Supervision; (ii) Construction: 8 IHCs; (iii) Equipment/furniture/supplies; and (iv) Training. The second Component comprises: Project Management: i) Rehabilitation; ii) Equipment/Furniture/Supplies; iii) Technical Assistance; iv) Audit; and v) Operations.
