Equiano Subsea Cable Connectivity Expansion in Southern Africa

The Equiano subsea cable, landing in Swakopmund, Namibia, in June 2022, is a Google-backed project delivering vast bandwidth and ultra-low latency from Europe to Africa's west coast. Paratus Group, as the landing partner in Namibia, has extended the network into neighboring and landlocked countries via cross-border terrestrial fiber infrastructure, improving connectivity, redundancy, and resilience across the SADC region. The project includes the Botswana Kalahari Fibre project linking Gaborone to the Equiano landing station, built by local contractors, creating jobs and establishing Botswana's first express fiber route to Europe.
