Equipment of a fleet of Alpha Trains' international locomotives with ERTMS baseline 3

This project covers the deployment of ERTMS, Level 1 and 2, Baseline 3 on 28 multi-systems locomotives for freight, equipped with 28 onboard units (OBUs). It includes 25 fitments, 2 international serial upgrades and 1 international prototype retrofit. The combined operation of this fleet will cover all the corridors of the core network in Europe. The project is part of the Alpha Trains’ strategy to equip with ERTMS the company’s fleet of locomotives operating on the TEN-T Core Network Corridors. Through the deployment of ERTMS on the 28 freight locomotives it supports the interoperability, increased capacity, seamless integration and the modal shift from road to rail for freight transport on the European railway network.
